Accessibility statement
Erklärung zur Barrierefreiheit
Last updated
We want everyone to be able to use dns.lgbt, whatever their abilities and whatever device or assistive technology they use. This statement covers the website and the app at dns.lgbt, including the administrators’ pages. It doesn’t cover id.schramm.software, where our administrators sign in.
It also covers the emails we send, which always come with a plain-text version, and our onion service.
The service
dns.lgbt hosts DNS for domains. After signing in, you add a domain, point its nameservers to dns.lgbt at your registrar and manage its records in forms; dns.lgbt shows the status of each domain and emails you when it changes. The front page shows the status of our nameservers without signing in.
How accessible dns.lgbt is
We aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, as the European standard EN 301 549 requires. dns.lgbt partly meets them: most of it does, the parts listed under “Known limitations” don’t yet.
What we do:
- Text has a contrast of at least 4.5:1 to its background, in light and in dark mode.
- Everything works with the keyboard, focus is always visible, and a link at the top of the app skips to the content.
- Most pages use headings, landmarks and labelled form fields; icons that act as buttons have names for screen readers.
- A status is never shown by colour alone: there is always a word next to it.
- Charts also exist as tables for screen readers.
- Pages work when zoomed to 200% and on screens 320 pixels wide.
- Animations stop when your system asks for reduced motion, and the app follows your light or dark setting.
Known limitations
- Some changes that happen by themselves, such as DNSSEC moving to its next step or the status dots in the sidebar, aren’t announced to screen readers. A domain’s status in its header is.
We are working on it.
How we assessed it
This statement is based on our own assessment from 27 October 2026: reading the code of every page, and using every page as a visitor and with accounts of every kind, in light and dark mode, on screens from 320 pixels wide, zoomed to 200%, with the keyboard only, with reduced motion and with an automated accessibility checker, and calculating the contrast of all colours. It hasn’t been audited externally yet.
