Records and zone import
Last updated
Your domain’s Records page lists every record. Choose a row to change or delete it, or Add record for a new one. Our nameservers serve a change within seconds once the domain is active; resolvers may keep the old answer until its TTL runs out.
Names
Names are relative to your domain: @ is the domain itself, www is www.example.org, and * answers for every name that has no records of its own. A CNAME can’t share its name with any other record, so the domain itself (@) can’t be a CNAME.
TTL
How long resolvers may keep an answer, in seconds, from 1 to 86,400 (a day). Lower it a day before a planned move, so the change spreads quickly.
Importing a zone file
Most providers export your records as a zone file (BIND format). Choose Import zone file, paste or upload it, and the preview shows what will be added. The SOA, the domain’s own NS records and DNSSEC records are skipped, since we keep those ourselves, and records with errors are named with their line. Nothing is changed until you import.
Limits
A domain holds up to 1,000 records, and at most 100 of one type at one name, unless your account has other limits; the dashboard shows yours.
Changing records from a program
Use the API with a token from your account page, or Certbot for certificates.
